MAY 4-6, 2018: JUDY RUSSELL PRESENTS 12 ANGRY MEN(JURORS)
‘Judy Russell Presents’ brings together a host of local arts leaders and actors for its second production of the year: 12 Angry Men( Jurors) by Reginald Rose, adapted by Sherman L. Shergel. Alumni from Judy Russell Presents, Excalibur Theatre Arts Co., Shooting Stars Theatre, Pocket Theatre, Theatre Northwest, and more, make up the stellar cast of 12 Angry Men (Jurors) which will be playing at the Prince George Playhouse May 4-6, 2018. 12 Angry Men (Jurors) directly follows the plot of 12 Angry Men, with a handful of roles filled by exceptional female talent. 12 Angry Men (Jurors) is directed by Anna Russell and features David Leach (Excalibur Theatre Arts Co.) as Juror 8, Sandra Clermont (Judy Russell Presents: Cabaret, Hello Dolly, Sound of Music) as Juror 3 and Melissa Glover (Shooting Stars Theatre & Theatre Northwest) as Juror 10. Additional cast includes: Adam Harasimiuk, Katherine Trepanier & Tracy Summerville. An examination of the North American people and the judicial system that keeps them in check, 12 Angry Men (Jurors) centres on Juror 8 who is, at first, the sole holdout in an 11-1 guilty vote. He aims, not to prove the other jurors wrong, but rather encourages them to abandon their personal biases and see the case for what it is. After the teleplay aired in 1954 it rose to critical acclaim and was adapted by the Playwright, Reginald Rose into a film starring Henry Fonda in 1957. The show holds particular cultural significance in 2018 with the recent court cases of Fribjon Bjornson, Colton Boushie and Tina Fontaine.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2018: SHANE KOYCZAN
DOORS: 7PM SHOW: 7:30PM TICKETS AT CENTRAL INTERIOR TICKETS
In a realm where poets rarely intersect with stardom, the Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympics introduced us to Shane Koyczan. With a collective “wow” across Canada and beyond, we found the poet of our generation. And we weren’t even looking for one. The world took notice when Shane’s influential, anti-bullying, To This Day Project video went viral in early 2013 with over 14 million views and counting. Powerfully engaging and authentic in attitude, his explorations are relevant to our times in the way that Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Downie and Leonard Cohen are to theirs. But unlike the musicians that he’s often compared to, poets rarely infiltrate pop culture. Koyzcan emerges in a new wave of 21st century poetry that dares to belong to the people and speak directly to them in their own voice. Shane Koyczan is best known for his award winning spoken word performances. With his rhythmic verse in high gear, he navigates his audience through social and political territory with a furious honesty and a tender humanity that has brought audiences to their feet in New York, London, Edinburgh, Sydney, Stockholm, and Los Angeles, to name a few. He has received 5 star reviews for his performances around the globe. Winner of the US Slam Poetry Championship and the Canadian Spoken Word Olympics, Koyczan is truly an extraordinary talent that has blown the dust off of the traditional designation “poet”.
